This is one of those rare occasions where the irony of something compels me to just write to process my own experience as a pastor now having moved on. The irony of life sometimes is overwhelming at times.Today coming into work at the local hospital on Kentucky Derby Day, I heard a wonderful story of a man who spent years betting on horses, now taking up the cause of horses that no longer could run and provide great revenues for their owners. He had learned of one great race horse that, after the useful days had passed, had been shipped and processed as food in Japan! Finding this to be absolutely unacceptable, he started retirement farms for former race horses to make their last days more kind...

If you love living where you are now, then there is probably no need for you to move. However, after reading this chapter, you may start to develop itchy feet. The grass sometimes IS greener on the other side. What are the advantages of moving? Basically that depends on where you live now and on how you want to live. Moving to another country can reduce or eliminate income, corporate and capital gains taxes. Now I've got your attention. Here is the BUT If you live in the USA you are taxed by your government on your world-wide income regardless of where you live in the world. That's rude. It may still be tax advantageous to move however. You won't get taxed twice. If you move to a tax haven...

Child Muay Thai Boxers

One Friday night in January I was in Hua Hin, Thailand with nothing to do so I decided to go and watch the "Friday Night Muay Thai contest" held at Grand Sport Hua Hin on Petchkasem Road. I had received a flyer earlier in the street promoting the event and decided that it might be worth checking out.Apparently there are two Muay Thai venues in Hua Hin and this wasn't the "real" one, but if I wanted to go that night I didn't have much of a choice. It wasn't a stadium as such, more like a gym that had a ring in the middle and some chairs set up on two sides. I believe they have Muay Thai lessons there every day. There wasn't a live band there either so the music didn't get faster as the matches...

Before we dive into the technical aspects of astrology and exactly how the science works, we first need to set the record straight about exactly what astrology is and what it isn't, as their are many misconceptions about this science that need to be put to rest. Hopefully this article will be able to do just that.Astrology, as a belief, is a science that essentially connects your outer world to your inner world to reveal the potentials that you have as a human being. This is not to say that the influences of astrology are absolute. Just because a person has an astrological chart that shows he will be a great leader of people doesn't mean that this will necessarily come to pass. This is where...

If you are going to the 2012 London Olympic Games then you certainly have a lot to look forward to. In order to ensure you get the most out of your stay, it is best to consider where you are going to stay as soon as possible! When you sort out your accommodation early it is easier to look forward to the trip, and it is also much easier to book a place that will be positioned nearer the main event - which is a great advantage when public transport and the city as a whole will be so busy at that time. As well as many practical advantages to booking early, there are also financial incentives too. Because hotels, guest houses and rental accommodation would all rather know they are busy than leave...

U.S. ECONOMIC BACKGROUND AND POLICYIn a free market system, when demand exceeds supply, prices rise and there is excess profit. So, new supply is created, until excess profit disappears. In the U.S. over the past few years, inflation accelerated, corporations had strong profit growth, and the economy expanded at above trend growth.Measures of inflation, e.g. the GDP Price Deflator, CPI, and PPI, show inflation has accelerated over the past few years. The Federal Reserve (or Fed) uses several measures of inflation. However, it's primary benchmark is the Personal Consumption Expenditures Chain Price Index, which is a component of the GDP Chain Price Deflator. U.S. inflation has generally risen from 1...

Economy of Thailand

One of the prosperous East Asian economies is the economy of Thailand. It has achieved impressive growth rates. This growth per capita has remained positive for several decades. In Thailand the state has intervened in economy, but in a passive way.Government polices have been the most effective in maintaining a macroeconomic equilibrium that is conducive to trade, investment, and the growth of firms. Most resource allocations have contributed factor productivity. The market and private sector institutions, but not state economic policies determine them.Thailand differs from other newly industrialized countries (NICs) in Asia. The discovery of these maps started a quest for their origin and purpose that was to last almost 10 years. Arthur Wellesley (1769-1852), who later became the Duke of Wellington and the hero who beat Napoleon at Waterloo, had to overcome his own mother's lack of faith in him in order to make a success of his military career. She once commented: "I vow to God I don't know what I shall do with my awkward son, Arthur". She even believed he had little aptitude for soldiering! Perhaps this motivated him to become one of the greatest generals in British military history. Several key success lessons can be learned from his life.Millions are programmed from an early age by their own parents and friends who place verbal limits on what they can achieve. Too often, they allow these limits to control them for the rest...

As the baby boom generation continues to age, we can expect acute labour shortages similar to the ones we experienced in the high technology sector during the dot com boom.
